Clear Your Mind…How?

I couldn’t sleep last night my mind was like a ongoing TV show, one scene after another.

This is something that happens regularly, shutting off completely has never been easy for me, why i don’t know.

I have read posts and online sites about mediating, yoga, light a candle and do some breathing exercises. I’m not going to say ‘their rubbish stuff like that doesn’t work’, because from what I’ve seen it does work for some people.

However for me I’ve tried and tried yet it never works. I can’t meditate, i lasted two days and gave up, yoga same don’t have the patience.

That’s probably one of my main problems PATIENCE.

I guess you need to be able to take your time to do something, but for me when it comes to turning off, patience to do yoga isn’t one of them. So  everyone has to find their own way of escape.

Mine is MUSIC.

Don’t worry I’m not going to list all my amazing song i listen to because I’m not a music head , i don’t always remember all the artist and all their songs.

But… when my head is going round and round and doesn’t know when to shut up and go to sleep, all I have to do is turn on my Spotify put my headphones on and turn up the volume and i can just be.

Music is my escape, which is the only reason i signed up to pay monthly for Spotify which isn’t something i like to do. Monthly subscriptions just isn’t my thing, not a fan of them but i did it for something that helps me.

Guess the point of this post is, to help people realize you can’t do something everyone does for the same results, just because something works for one person doesn’t mean it will work for you.

So if your mind is driving you crazy and doesn’t know when to stop find what makes it stop… experiment, because from what iv learned from my own experience, theirs something out there for everyone.

You just have to find YOURS.

  1. I can really understand where you’re coming from. Shutting down is one of my biggest problems as my brain seems to be working against me all the freakin time. I always have a lot on my mind and can never let go of it, even at night, which gives me sleep problems, nightmares… I have anxiety so that’s expected, but still. It is hard. I loved your description of your mind being like an ongoing tv show because that’s exactly how I would describe mine. Great post! Made me feel like I’m not alone. Thank you for that.

Just a little suggestion I’ve started using the ‘This works deep sleep pillow spray’ I mean I can’t be sure if that’s what helps me sleep but it helps sometimes.

      • Well, for me, since I’ve been diagnosed with depression and anxiety, I’ve been prescribed sleeping pills, which I need to take. They help me sleep but don’t improve the quality of my sleep. Not good. Anyway, to shut off I need to feel that I’ve done something important with my day. Does it sound weird? If I’ve had a good day, if I’ve been productive, and think about that before I fall asleep, that helps me, because it’s soothing. Music also helps, when I’m really desperate. I will for sure check your suggestion. Thank you so much!

  3. Completely agree with you that everyone is different, but how very important to have something (or a range of things) to which one can turn when life gets a bit much. 🙂

  4. Beautifully described…..and true, one has to find oneself what works for him or her. What I feel the moment you try to welcome the thoughts coming in your mind, they stop themselves as they don’t want to face You…..

  5. This seems like a crazy time in a crazy world. I can understand why your brain has so much noise. I sometimes struggle to fall asleep because of the random thoughts that pass through. I just started blogging and it has given my thoughts some focus. Maybe this will help you!

Thank you for taking the time to share with us.
